The block has a wide range of birds that pass through. The larger birds include magpies, Common Bronzewing, and a pair of twenty-eight parrots. There are a range of smaller birds, not all of which I've got a good id on yet but seem to include Singing Honeyeaters and Brown Honeyeaters.
The undisputed monarchs of the block are the Black Cockatoos. I'm not currently clear how many groups there are but it seems like at least three groups, some of which may include young ones. The birds move up and down a continuous strip of bush, with the block at its centre. They merrily strip the top of the tall trees and toss the honky nuts down, sometimes to an extent that a helmet is advised.
There seem to be both white-tailed and red-tailed black cockatoos, but the white-tailed ones are more elusive and may have just been visiting. On any day it is usually pretty easy to find at least a couple of the red-tails around.
It turns out getting good pictures of birds is a challenge, so for the moment, I'm grabbing images that other people have taken.
